This year, Covid-19 forced the world to press pause on all things social and go into isolation. Collectively, we had to say goodbye to festivals, clubs, tours and fun as we knew it as we were introduced to a new world of online, socially distanced & seated events.
We caught up with some of our artist alumni to see how the pandemic affected them and how they kept busy amid the disruption of their usual touring schedules. Welcome to our Q&A segment, Your Parad-iso.
YP: Hey guys! We know you've been busy during isolation with your new album, what can you tell us about it?
Cosmos: "Our second album 'Yesteryear' feels like a coming of age. It's a nostalgic look back on the years past and all the formative experiences that have led us to the people we are today. Musically we also wanted to draw on our favourite music from the 70s and 80s so it's dripping in disco/funk and psychedelic vibes."
YP: Can we expect more iso ‘cooking with Cosmo’ episodes?
Cosmos: "100% now that the album’s out and no touring to do, we've got a lot more time on our hands than usual! Stay tuned ;)"
YP: Tell us one thing that Covid-19 has made you grateful for?
Cosmos: "We definitely took playing shows for granted and now we haven't played one in over 6 months we're really missing it. We also think Covid has made us more aware of how lucky we are to be healthy and safe. Hoping we can all go back to normal before long!"
YP: Tell us one track from any of the other artists on the line up the year you played that really stood out!
Cosmos: "Wow there's a lot to choose from here. But it obviously goes to 'Shooting Stars' by the Bag Raiders, what a classic."
YP: What was your favourite part of Your Paradise?
Cosmos: "We love the beach, so the pristine water where it was a bit cooler out to sea was so nice to swim in. DJ-ing on the sand was also something we've never done before so that was an experience for sure!"
